What our mobile diesel mechanics fix in Grand Prairie

Grand Prairie runs on freight, so most of what our mechanics fix here is heavy equipment. Semi truck repair makes up the core of it. We sort our on-site work by the problem in front of you. See every service on our diesel repair services page.

Semi truck repair when the tractor will not move

A tractor that will not start, or starts and then derates, holds up the whole load. Our techs connect to the ECM and read the fault history before touching a part. We repair fuel systems, turbos, cooling leaks, and wiring faults where the truck sits.

Aftertreatment trouble is a frequent cause. We run forced regens, clean or replace DPFs, and fix EGR and SCR faults on-site. We clear derate codes like SPN 3719 and SPN 5246 once the root cause is fixed. Deeper engine jobs are covered on our diesel engine repair page.

The trailer is the problem

Sometimes the tractor runs fine and the trailer holds you up. We repair trailer brakes, ABS faults, landing gear, lights, and 7-way connectors without dropping the trailer. That matters at a live dock where the load has to ship today.

We also troubleshoot Carrier and Thermo King reefer units on-site. That covers electrical faults, fuel supply issues, and basic mechanical failures. Major reefer compressor or engine work goes to a climate-controlled shop.

Tires and brakes before they sideline you

Tires and brakes account for most vehicle out-of-service violations at roadside inspections. In CVSA’s 2025 International Roadcheck, tires made up about 21% of vehicle out-of-service violations, per Fleet Maintenance.

Our tire techs carry jacks rated for Class 8 trucks and change commercial tires on location. We also repair S-cam and air disc brakes, slack adjusters, and brake chambers. We perform annual DOT inspections at our Mansfield shop. Need to get a truck back into service after a write-up? We can fix most defects on-site.

Box trucks, work trucks, and diesel pickups

Not every Grand Prairie call is a semi. We also fix medium-duty box trucks, dump trucks, tow trucks, and refrigerated straight trucks. Our techs work on diesel pickups too, including Power Stroke, Cummins, and Duramax engines. Our diesel truck repair page lists the truck classes we cover.

Fleet programs for Grand Prairie yards

Fleets based in Grand Prairie can schedule recurring maintenance at their own yard. We handle oil and filter service, brake checks, fluid service, and pre-trip items on a set schedule. Each unit gets a digital service record. Fleet accounts get consolidated billing and priority dispatch when something breaks.

Jobs that go to our Mansfield shop

A roadside visit fixes most problems. Some jobs need a lift, a press, or a full teardown, like engine overhauls, alignments, and major transmission work. We arrange the tow to Mansfield and keep you posted until the truck rolls out.

How I-20, I-30, and SH 161 move freight through Grand Prairie

Grand Prairie sits between Dallas and Fort Worth and spans parts of Dallas, Tarrant, and Ellis counties. I-20 and I-30 cross the city east to west. SH 161 runs north to south through its western half. That grid puts Grand Prairie on the main freight paths across the metroplex, and it shapes how our trucks reach you.

SH 161

SH 161 and the Bush Turnpike

SH 161 is Grand Prairie’s north-south freeway. It carries the President George Bush Turnpike main lanes from I-20 north through Grand Prairie and Irving. The FHWA describes it as an 11.5-mile link between SH 183, I-30, and I-20, south of DFW Airport. The last section, from I-30 to I-20, opened in October 2012.

For truckers, SH 161 does two jobs. It connects Grand Prairie docks to the Bush Turnpike loop around north Dallas. It also gives our service trucks a direct path from I-20 to the warehouses along its frontage roads. SH 161 has free frontage roads. If your truck can still roll safely, a frontage road is a better place to wait than the tolled main lanes.

I-20

I-20 on the south side

I-20 crosses south Grand Prairie and meets SH 161 there. Head east and I-20 reaches US 67, I-35E, and I-45 in south Dallas. Head west and it leads toward Arlington and Kennedale, where US 287 connects to our shop. That makes I-20 our main route into central and north Grand Prairie. Our trucks run I-20 east, then turn north on SH 161.

I-30

I-30 through north Grand Prairie

I-30 runs through the northern part of the city, past the Great Southwest Industrial District. It links Grand Prairie docks to downtown Dallas on the east and Fort Worth on the west. A breakdown on I-30 or its frontage roads usually means a truck heading to or from a warehouse. We reach it by SH 161 north from I-20, or SH 360 north from Mansfield.

SH 360

SH 360 along the west edge

SH 360 runs along Grand Prairie’s western edge. Its 360 Tollway section runs north from US 287 in Mansfield into southwest Grand Prairie at Camp Wisdom Road. For calls in far south Grand Prairie, it is our shortest route. See NTTA’s 360 Tollway page for toll details.

Grand Prairie industrial areas and the trucks they run

Grand Prairie’s freight is spread across a few distinct areas. Each one creates its own kind of breakdown call. We send a mechanic to the dock, the yard, or the truck court, so the load can stay put.

ZIP 75050 · 75051

Great Southwest Parkway

The Grand Prairie side of the Great Southwest Industrial District lines North and South Great Southwest Parkway, in ZIP codes 75050 and 75051. The district was built in the 1950s beside the old Dallas-Fort Worth Turnpike, now I-30. Today its warehouses have quick access to I-30, SH 161, and I-20. Dock doors turn over fast here. A trailer with an ABS fault or a dead reefer can block a door for hours. We fix those problems at the dock.

North of I-30 · Shady Grove

North Grand Prairie and Roy Orr Boulevard

North of I-30, in the Shady Grove area, warehouses and truck terminals line Roy Orr Boulevard. Property records list 3000 Roy Orr Blvd as a 236,000-square-foot warehouse and truck terminal built in 2014. Terminals like this keep day cabs and yard tractors working long shifts. These trucks need no-start fixes, air system repairs, and scheduled maintenance at the yard.

ZIP 75051 · Frontage roads

The SH 161 distribution corridor

Large distribution buildings sit along the SH 161 frontage roads in 75051. Two examples are 850 and 1102 State Highway 161, at about 190,000 and 323,000 square feet. Trucks here run straight onto the Bush Turnpike and I-20. When one breaks down at the door or on the frontage road, we work on it where it sits.

Supplier freight

Aerospace and manufacturing

Grand Prairie is home to Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control headquarters. Texas Economic Development reports about 4,000 employees there. Airbus Helicopters, Inc. has its U.S. headquarters at Grand Prairie Municipal Airport. Plants like these depend on steady supplier freight. Diesel box trucks, flatbeds, and fleet pickups keep that supply chain moving, and we keep those trucks running.
