Hutchins & Wilmer, TX · Live 24/7 mobile dispatch
Hutchins and Wilmer sit at the center of the Inland Port of Dallas. I-20 crosses the north edge of Hutchins, I-45 runs south through both cities, and the Union Pacific Dallas Intermodal Terminal straddles the city line at Fulghum Road. When a tractor or trailer goes down here, a container misses its window and a dock door sits empty.
Hawkeye Diesel Repair repairs diesel trucks and trailers in Hutchins and Wilmer, from Class 8 day cabs to box trucks and diesel pickups. Our mobile diesel mechanics come to your truck 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Jobs that need a lift or a teardown go to our shop in Mansfield, TX.
Call (682) 231-8338. A live dispatcher answers, takes your location, and explains our rates before a truck rolls.

Diagnosis and price before repair
Hawkeye Diesel Repair does not have a shop in Hutchins or Wilmer. Our only shop is at 6330 Dick Price Rd in Mansfield. We serve the Inland Port area two ways, and the repair decides which one fits.
Repair where the truck sits. Our service trucks leave Mansfield and reach Hutchins and Wilmer by way of I-20. We work on trucks at warehouse docks, drop yards, fleet yards, truck stops, and highway shoulders. Each service truck carries OEM-level scan tools, common parts, fluids, and air system components. The technician scans the truck, explains the problem, and quotes the repair before any work starts.
Repair at our Mansfield shop. In-frame overhauls, major transmission work, frame repairs, and annual DOT inspections need a lift, a press, or a full teardown. Those jobs go to our diesel shop in Mansfield, TX. If your truck needs the shop, we set up the tow and keep you updated until it rolls out. The same team handles the job from start to finish.
Not sure if you need a tow or a mechanic? Call (682) 231-8338 and describe the symptoms. Our dispatcher will tell you.
Inland Port work is hard on trucks in specific ways. These are the calls we see most.
Intermodal · Drayage
Trucks working the Inland Port often run short loops. They pull a container from the intermodal terminal, drop it at a distribution center a few miles away, and repeat. They idle in gate lines and sit at docks. That duty cycle keeps exhaust temperatures low, so the DPF struggles to regenerate on its own.
The result is soot buildup, DEF and NOx sensor faults, and derates. We run parked and forced regens, replace NOx sensors, and repair DEF dosing, EGR, and SCR faults. If the filter is too loaded or a part has to be ordered, the truck goes to our shop.
Distribution center docks
A good share of our Inland Port calls are trailer problems, not tractor problems. A dragging brake or a dead ABS light can hold a loaded trailer at the door. Our mobile trailer repair team works on dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, and tankers where they sit. We repair air brakes, slack adjusters, brake chambers, ABS faults, air leaks, glad hands, landing gear, and lights.
Give dispatch the building address, the door or yard spot number, and any gate check-in rules.
Batteries · Starters · Wiring
A tractor that won’t start at a loading dock holds up the whole schedule. We load test batteries, replace starters and alternators, trace parasitic draws, and repair wiring harnesses. Our service trucks carry replacement batteries and starters, so many no-starts get fixed in one visit.
Here is what our technicians fix for Inland Port drivers and fleets. For the full menu, see our diesel repair services page.
We read fault codes and trace misfires, low boost, and injector failures back to the root cause. Our Certified Diesel Technicians work on Cummins X15 and ISX15, Detroit DD13, DD15, and DD16, PACCAR MX-13, International A26, and Caterpillar C13 and C15 engines. See our diesel engine repair page for overhauls and engine replacement.
We test fuel pressure and repair injectors, fuel pumps, fuel filters, and supply lines. We also diagnose turbo failures, boost leaks, and actuator faults.
We repair S-cam drum brakes, air disc brakes, slack adjusters, brake chambers, and air leaks in lines and fittings. We also replace air bags, height-control valves, and shock absorbers on air ride suspensions.
North Texas summers are hard on cooling systems, and stop-and-go dock work makes it worse. We repair radiators, water pumps, thermostats, hoses, and coolant leaks.
We handle clutch adjustments and replacements, driveshaft and U-joint repairs, and axle service. Major transmission work is done at our Mansfield shop.
We perform annual DOT inspections at our Mansfield shop. Each one covers brakes, tires, lights, steering, suspension, and coupling devices. If we find a defect, we can fix it in the same visit. Fleets with three or more trucks can also set up scheduled maintenance at their own yard for oil changes, brake inspections, and fluid service.

I-45
Runs north to south through Hutchins and Wilmer and carries freight between Dallas and Houston. The intermodal terminal sits on its west side at Fulghum Road, about 3 miles south of I-20. Warehouses and truck services line its frontage roads.
I-20
Forms the north edge of Hutchins and connects the Inland Port to I-35E, US 67, and the rest of the metroplex. It is also the road our service trucks take from Mansfield.
Local
Local routes between I-45, the rail terminal, and the distribution centers around it.
If the truck can move safely, get off the main lanes onto the frontage road or into a lot. Turn on your hazards and set your triangles. If you’re not sure the truck is safe to move, leave it parked and call.
The rail terminal and some distribution centers have their own access and gate rules. Tell dispatch exactly where your truck is so we can plan how to reach it.
Owner-operators and drayage drivers. When your truck sits, you lose the load and the time slot. Our dispatcher explains the dispatch fee and hourly rate before anyone rolls. The technician quotes the repair before starting. You get a written invoice listing parts, labor, and the repair performed. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, cash, and fleet checks.
Fleet managers get:
Approve repairs for your drivers without being on-site.
