Explained before we roll
RV repair covers two different jobs. One is the house: slide-outs, appliances, roof, plumbing, and awnings. The other is the diesel engine and chassis underneath. Hawkeye is a diesel shop. Our technicians repair Class 8 trucks every week, and a diesel pusher shares much of the same hardware: a Cummins engine, an Allison transmission, air brakes, and air ride suspension.
That is the work we do on your RV. If your coach won’t start, won’t make power, is overheating, or is throwing a derate warning, call us.
Class A
Most diesel pushers ride on Freightliner or Spartan chassis with a rear-mounted Cummins engine. Our technicians service the ISB 6.7, ISL 8.9, and ISX15 and X15 platforms, plus the Allison automatic transmissions, air brakes, and airbag suspension on these coaches. We also work on older coaches with Caterpillar engines.
Super C
Super C RVs are built on medium-duty truck chassis, mainly the Freightliner M2 106 and the Ford F-550. That puts them squarely in our lane. We service the Cummins engines on M2-based coaches and the 6.7L Power Stroke on Ford-based models.
Other
If your motorhome runs on diesel, call and tell us the chassis, engine, and model year. Our dispatcher will tell you straight if it is work we handle.
Battery load tests, cables, starters, and alternators. A coach that sat in storage for months often shows up as a no-crank. We test the chassis batteries and charging system before we leave, so you know it will start again tomorrow.
Most diesel pushers and Super Cs built after 2010 run a DEF and SCR system. When a DEF pump, NOx sensor, or DPF pressure sensor fails, the ECM cuts power to protect the engine. We scan the ECM with OEM-level tools, test the sensors, and run a parked or forced DPF regeneration. Learn more about our diesel engine repair work on Cummins platforms.
A diesel pusher’s cooling system works hard on a Texas summer climb. We replace coolant hoses, belts, thermostats, water pumps, and radiators, check the fan clutch, and pressure test the system to find the leak.
Fuel filters, lift pumps, injectors, and priming air out of the lines. Diesel that sits in the tank through a long storage season can cause hard starts and power loss. Our post on clean diesel fuel in DFW explains what to watch for.
Brake chambers, air lines, air dryers, and slack adjusters. If your coach won’t build air pressure, it can’t safely move. We trace the leak and fix it where you’re parked. Airbag suspension service is handled at our Mansfield shop.
Allison fluid and filter service, shift solenoid replacement, and diagnostics for a transmission that is slipping or stuck in limp mode.
Boost leak testing, actuator replacement, and turbo repair when your coach loses power on a grade or blows black smoke.
Oil and filter changes, fuel filter replacement, air filter service, coolant checks, Allison fluid service, and a multi-point inspection before a long trip. Call to schedule a visit at your home, storage lot, or our shop.
A 40-foot diesel pusher is not easy to move when something is wrong. A tow costs time and money, and you may lose your campsite. Our mobile diesel repair trucks come to you: the highway shoulder, a truck stop, an RV park, a storage lot, or your driveway.
